Port Efficiency and Regional Development

This paper attempts to elucidate one of the mechanisms that link trade barriers, in the form of port costs, and subsequent growth and regional inequality. Not only inland costs can be perceived as a further barrier to link trade liberalization and growth (Haddad and Perobelli, 2005), but also port costs. Unlike highway link, congestion at port may have severe impacts spread over space and time whereas highway link congestion may be resolved within several hours. Since port is part of the transportation network, any congestion/disruption is likely to ripple throughout the hinterland. In this sense, it is important to model properly the role nodal congestion plays in a context of spatial models and international trade. Thus, we have developed a spatial CGE model integrated to a transport network system in order to simulate the impacts of increases in port efficiency in a context of trade liberalization. The role of ports of entry and ports of exit are explicitly considered in order to grasp the holistic picture in an integrated interregional system.

Walt, é você mesmo? uma análise das transformações de Walter White na série televisual Breaking Bad

Este Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso busca investigar como se deu a construção da personagem Walter White na série televisual Breaking Bad e explorar os pontos nos quais seria possível identificar, ao longo do enredo, momentos que evidenciariam as rupturas provocadoras das mudanças pelas quais ela passa durante a história. Além disso, o estudo também procura avaliar o processo de transformação do protagonista na narrativa e refletir acerca das particularidades das séries de televisão, sobretudo as complexas, e compreender como se dá o processo de desenvolvimento dos seres ficcionais nas últimas. A metodologia do trabalho foi composta por cinco etapas. A primeira teve como objetivo principal, a partir da visualização completa de Breaking Bad, de fazer-se um sobrevoo do enredo e recordar a maneira como a trama que tem Walter White como centro se desenvolveu. Após, por meio de duas novas visualizações integrais da narrativa, onde cada uma configurou nova fase metodológica, realizou-se a decupagem de todas as cenas nas quais ele aparece, a fim de criar-se um banco contendo a descrição de cada uma delas, e foram escolhidas as sequências que poderiam ser utilizadas durante a análise Já o quarto momento consistiu na delimitação final dos trechos explorados no estudo e o último pelo exame de todos as sequências selecionadas, onde foram empregadas, predominantemente, a teoria das personagens trazida por autores como Pallottini (1989; 1998), Arantes (2008), Fischer e Nascimento (2012) e outros, e as propostas de análise fílmica desenvolvidas por Vanoye e Goliot-Leté (1994) e Jullier e Marie (2009). Através do capítulo empírico foi possível, então, observar os recursos utilizados na série para a edificação de seu protagonista e como esta o desenvolve de maneira complexa através de sua trajetória ao longo da narrativa, marcando-o como um sujeito multifacetado, tomado por nuances e indeterminações e que apresenta aberturas pelas quais o inesperado pode emergir, sendo, dessa maneira, uma figura de grande profundidade.This Undergraduate Thesis aims to investigate the construction of the character Walter White in the television series Breaking Bad and explore the points in which was possible to identify, throughout the plot, moments that would show provocative ruptures of the changes which he faces during the story. Moreover, the study also attempts to survey the process of transformation of the protagonist in the narrative and think the particularities of the television series, especially the complex ones, and understand how the development process of the fictional beings, in the latest ones, takes place. The methodology of the workpiece was composed of five stages. The first one had as main objective, from the complete visualization of Breaking Bad, to make an overflight of the story and to remember the way the plot, which has White Walter as the central character, has developed. After that, through two new complete visualizations of the narrative, each one setting up a new methodological phase, a selection of all the scenes in which he appears was made in order to create a file containing each one’s description, and the sequences that could be used during the analysis were chosen The fourth moment consisted of the final delimitation of the excerpts explored in the study and the last one by the examination of all the selected sequences, in which the theory of the characters, brought by authors such as Pallottini (1989, 1998), Arantes (2008) Fischer and Nascimento (2012) and others, and the proposals of film analysis developed by Vanoye and Goliot-Leté (1994) and Jullier and Marie (2009), was applied. Through the empirical chapter it was then possible to observe the resources used to build its protagonist and how it has developed him in a complex way on his journey throughout the narrative, turning him into a multifaceted subject, taken by nuances and uncertainties and presenting openings by which the unexpected can emerge, being, in this way, a figure of great depth

A função da criação literária como tema em O cemitério dos vivos de Lima Barreto e Diário de Bitita de Carolina Maria de Jesus

This paper aims to investigate the presence of literary creation as a theme in the works O Cemitério dos Vivos (1919), by Lima Barreto and Diário de Bitita (1986), by Carolina Maria de Jesus. The paper begins with a panoramic view of the predominant representations of black characters in Brazilian literary historiography as devoid of subjectivity (NASCIMENTO, 2015), and analyzes the reflections mobilized by the authors regarding literary creation and the role it plays in these works, which, besides building a specific and legitimate relationship between art and the human being, behaves as a criticism of the literary intuition's constitution and acts as a demand for this space. In this way, we seek to understand the existing interceptions and the aesthetic procedures of each text.O artigo tem como objetivo investigar a presença da criação literária como tema nas obras O Cemitério dos Vivos (1919), de Lima Barreto, e Diário de Bitita (1986), de Carolina Maria de Jesus. Parte-se de maneira panorâmica das representações predominantes de personagens negras na historiografia literária brasileira como ausentes de subjetividade (NASCIMENTO, 2015) e das reflexões mobilizadas pelos autores a respeito da criação literária e o papel que exercem nas obras, que, para além de construir uma relação específica e legítima entre indivíduo e arte, se comportam como críticas à constituição da instituição literária e atuam como reivindicatórias desse espaço. Dessa maneira, buscamos compreender os cruzamentos existentes e entender os procedimentos estéticos de cada texto

Águas Lindas na TV: a história de improviso e vontade da TV CMN

O documentário Águas Lindas na TV: A história de improviso e vontade da TV CMN, tem o objetivo de mostrar como funciona a vida e a rotina de pessoas humildes e sem estudo da região de Águas Lindas de Goiás que resolveram pela perseverança e união de seus funcionários, manter um canal de notícias comunitário, com o intuito de levar aos cidadãos as notícias de maior relevância sobre a cidade. Hoje em dia, a TV CMN é considerada como sendo o único canal de notícias on-line do entorno do Distrito Federal e que realiza parcerias com emissoras de televisão, tais como SBT, TV Bandeirantes, Globo, Record e alguns meios impressos, fornecendo para as mesmas, fotos, vídeos e todo o tipo de conteúdo para as principais fontes de informação da cidade. Em contrapartida, é solicitado que as emissoras citem os créditos do site, para um aumento da visibilidade e credibilidade do canal de notícias

A IMPRODUTIVIDADE DE UM CONCEITO DE PRODUÇÃO

This article examines the conceptual content of Hahn's formal argument which asserts that Sraffa's model is a particular case of the general equilibrium model. It argues that this proposition is untenable since these models analyzed different concepts of production. Thus, the rate of return and prices determined by Hahn are just simple expressions of the economic agents' problem in allocating intertemporally their initial endowments, and not that of Political Economy of the distribution of surplus in order to the economic system to reproduce itself.Este artigo examina o conteúdo conceitual do argumento formal de Hahn o qual afirma que o modelo de Sraffa é um caso particular do modelo de equilíbrio geral. Argumenta-se que esta afirmativa não é plausível porque os conceitos de produção dos dois modelos não são equivalentes. Assim, a taxa de retorno e os preços determinados por Hahn refletem tão-somente a questão da alocação intertemporal das dotações iniciais dos agentes, e não a questão básica posta pela Economia Política da distribuição do excedente de forma a tornar possível a reprodução do sistema econômico

UMA ANÁLISE DE INSUMO-PRODUTO DA DISTRIBUIÇÃO INTERESTADUAL DA RENDA NO BRASIL

The aim of this paper is to apply the Leontief-Miyazawa Model to the Brazilian economy and analyze the intra and inter-states flow of income that occur as a consequence of the production to attend the final demand of each state. Using this model, we will be able to see how the interdependence among the productive structure of the Brazilian states influences the determination of state income. We will also consider the results found in the perspective of the theory of economic development by Rosenstein-Rodan and Nurkse and the reduction of the regional inequalities.

Uma Análise de Insumo-Produto da Distribuição Interestadual da Renda no Brasil

Este trabalho procura aplicar o Modelo de Leontief-Miyazawa para a economia brasileira com o objetivo de analisar os fluxos de renda intra e inter estaduais que decorre em da produção para atender a demanda final de cada estado. Desta maneira, veremos como as relações de dependência entre as estruturas produtivas dos estados brasileiros influenciam a determinação da renda estadual.
